Project Overview

This project involved the retrofit of an existing bathroom at the Trek Fort Collins location into a functional bike washing facility. The scope focused on redesigning the space's plumbing to support bike wash operations, including proper drainage and water supply for the new station.

Scope of Work

• Demolition and Space Conversion:
  • Removed existing bathroom fixtures and plumbing to prepare the space for conversion into a bike washing facility.
  • Assessed existing infrastructure to determine the best approach for integrating new plumbing systems.
• Bike Wash Station Plumbing:
  • Designed and installed a new water supply line to support the bike wash station's spray and rinse functions.
  • Engineered a drainage system capable of handling water runoff and debris from bike washing without causing backups.
• Drainage and Waste Management:
  • Installed floor drains and piping tailored to the specific flow requirements of a wash-down environment.
  • Ensured drainage design met local code requirements for the converted use of the space.

Challenges and Solutions

• Challenge: Sequencing work operations to convert the space efficiently while minimizing disruption to the store.
  Solution: Carefully planned and staged each phase of the retrofit, coordinating demolition, rough-in, and final installation to keep the project moving smoothly.
• Challenge: Designing piping and drainage for a use case outside the space's original bathroom layout.
  Solution: Developed a custom plumbing plan tailored to the specific flow and drainage demands of a bike wash station, ensuring reliable performance.

Results

The completed retrofit gave Trek Fort Collins a fully functional bike washing facility with reliable water supply and drainage tailored to the space's new purpose. The converted station now supports efficient bike maintenance operations for customers and staff alike.
